![]() No hesitation at all to recommend this book, and the series so far. Once again, a piece of excellent storytelling from an author who has found a place for herself – a niche where science fiction becomes an exciting backdrop for the characters rather than the other way around. It leaves me both excited and apprehensive for the next book in this exciting, uncomfortable series. With this discovery comes a real sense of dread and an anticipation of what’s to come. I found a lot of depressing echoes of the world we live in today but that may just be my socialist tendencies showing! This is a world of clans battling for dominance in the galaxy, people with few morals, and most out to exploit those who have something to offer. There are no explicit triggers in this book, which may make it an easier read for those who struggled with Book 1. However, with all the difficult situations that arise, it’s hard to begrudge Carina a few breaks. Admittedly, it sometimes feels like the solutions are just slightly too convenient and the timings are more than normal luck. ![]() Green’s character development is excellent as always.įrom beginning to end, Dark Mage Rises presents the family with one challenge after another. ![]() ![]() Sadly, the children have not all arrived in the same location, providing a great opportunity for us, as readers, to learn more about the individual family members. Book 2 of the Star Mage Saga is set on the planet where Carina transported herself and her siblings at the end of Book 1. ![]()
